If there is one thing you cannot control it’s the weather, and didn’t Mother Nature throw a curve ball for the 2019 Burrandowan Picnic Races.

The night before, huge wind gusts swept through the region, which destroyed the stage at a nearby Country Music Festival in Maidenwell.  The bitter winds did not stop for the running of one of the best country race meets in Queensland.

Thousands of punters carried on with their annual migration to Burrandowan, to enjoy the five race program that has been run in Chahpingah, 67 km West of Kingaroy, since 1922.

While many people came to the races for the horses, it was actually meeting up with lifelong friends and most importantly Fashions on the Field.  This year saw judges greeted by a large field of entrants strutting the catwalk to take the crown of Best Dresssed Contemporary Lady (Emma Clarke), Best Dressed Classic Lady (Varelle O’Shanesy), Best Dressed Male (Alistair Rowe) and Best Dressed Couple (Brad Beutel & Courtney Retschlag).

It will all happen again in 2020 on Saturday May 9th. For more info go to www.burrandowanraces.com.au
